Craft Goo at the Alchemist with 1 Bug Dust, 2 Shroud Mushrooms and 1 Springlands Dirt. You need the Mortar, and the recipe appears after you craft Bug Dust. The output is 1 Goo, crafted instantly.
The current recipe uses Shroud Mushrooms, rather than the Shroud Liquid shown in older Early Access guides. The community wiki's Goo entry and the October 19, 2026 Polygon walkthrough agree on these ingredients.

Unlock Goo before gathering a large batch
- Rescue Balthazar the Alchemist and summon him at your base.
- Follow his crafting quests through The Alchemist's Mortar and obtain the Mortar.
- Collect Critter Parts from the blue beetles in the Shroud.
- Craft Bug Dust. This is the discovery step that unlocks Goo; collecting its raw materials alone is not the same as crafting it.
- Return to the Alchemist's crafting menu with all three Goo ingredients.
The Mortar is a workshop requirement for the Alchemist. Craft through the Alchemist's menu rather than searching the world for a Goo deposit. If you already own a Mortar but Goo is missing, check whether you have actually made Bug Dust.

Gather the three ingredients
| Ingredient | Amount per Goo | How to obtain it |
|---|---|---|
| Bug Dust | 1 | Craft it from Critter Parts after obtaining the Mortar. The current walkthrough gives 1 Critter Part per Bug Dust. |
| Shroud Mushroom | 2 | Chop down the large mushrooms growing in Revelwood. |
| Springlands Dirt | 1 | Use a pickaxe on the ground in the Springlands region. |
Shroud Mushroom and Shroud Liquid are different items. Check the item name after harvesting. A stockpile of Liquid does not satisfy the current Mushroom ingredient.
Likewise, the recipe names Springlands Dirt specifically. If you are collecting soil while exploring Revelwood, check your inventory before returning; do not assume another region's dirt is interchangeable.

For a batch of 15 Goo, the recipe scales to 15 Bug Dust, 30 Shroud Mushrooms and 15 Springlands Dirt. Gather according to the number you intend to craft rather than making separate trips for each unit. The direct Goo crafting step is instant, but that does not remove the time needed to obtain ingredients and make Bug Dust.
Choose how much to make
Goo is used in several kinds of crafting, so check the target recipe before spending your entire supply. Examples in the current wiki include:
| Target | Goo required | Other requirement to check |
|---|---|---|
| Adventurer Trousers | 2 | Blacksmith and Forge; additional materials are also required. |
| Healer Tunic | 1 | Alchemist and Mortar; additional materials are also required. |
| Acid Bite, output 20 | 5 | Alchemist and Alchemy Station, plus 2 Poison Sacks, 2 Ammonia Glands and 20 Springlands Dirt. |
| Azure Russula Seedlings, output 5 | 1 | Seedbed, plus 1 Shroud Mushroom and 1 Azure Russula. |
For Flame Level 4, the current Polygon walkthrough specifies 15 Goo. Goo is only part of that upgrade, so check the altar's remaining materials before committing to the expedition.
If the recipe still does not appear
Check the sequence rather than gathering more of the wrong item: Alchemist available, Mortar obtained and placed at your base, then Bug Dust crafted. Once Goo appears, confirm that your inventory contains the current Mushroom and named Dirt ingredients.
Avoid mixing the current ingredient table with an older screenshot that shows Shroud Liquid. That mismatch explains why a guide can appear to list everything you own while the current recipe remains uncraftable.
