Make 3 Reptile Leather at a Drying Rack using 1 Reptile Hide and 3 Salt. One batch takes 1 minute. Snapjaws drop the Hide, which is the raw ingredient; it must be processed into Leather before it satisfies a Leather recipe.
The community wiki's Reptile Leather entry lists this recipe, and the Reptile Hide entry lists Snapjaws as its source. Check the item names carefully when an armor recipe appears to reject the reptile material you are carrying.

Gather Hide, then process it with Salt
- Defeat Snapjaws and collect their Reptile Hide.
- Bring the Hide and Salt to a Drying Rack at your base.
- Select the Reptile Leather recipe and supply 1 Hide plus 3 Salt per batch.
- Allow the 1-minute crafting cycle to finish, then collect the 3 Leather output.

The processing step matters: hunting supplies Hide, while equipment recipes often require Leather. If you have Hide but no finished Leather, hunting more Snapjaws does not address the missing conversion step.

Check your Salt supply before making a long hunting trip. Each Hide consumes three Salt, so a stack of raw Hide alone is not a finished leather stockpile. The Drying Rack is the listed workshop; the Leather recipe is not a direct craft at the armor crafter.
Plan batches around the equipment you want
| Leather target | Batches | Reptile Hide needed | Salt needed | Leather produced |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| At least 1 | 1 | 1 | 3 | 3 |
| 6 | 2 | 2 | 6 | 6 |
| 9 | 3 | 3 | 9 | 9 |
| 12 | 4 | 4 | 12 | 12 |
These totals follow the three-Leather output of the recipe. A recipe using only one Leather will leave two from a fresh batch for another item. The one-minute value is per crafting batch, not a guaranteed total farming time or a claim that every rack setup processes several batches simultaneously.
Reptile Hide and Reptile Leather each have a listed stack size of 250, but they remain distinct inventory items. Keep the raw and processed stacks identifiable when checking your remaining materials.
Use Leather in the correct crafting recipe
Reptile Leather appears in both armor and utility recipes. These examples show the Leather portion and where the finished item is made; you still need its other ingredients and any listed workshop.
| Target item | Reptile Leather | Crafter and workshop |
|---|---|---|
| Adventurer Gloves | 1 | Blacksmith and Forge |
| Adventurer Helmet | 1 | Blacksmith and Forge |
| Cutthroat Gloves | 1 | Hunter |
| Mage Boots | 1 | Alchemist and Mortar |
| Ranger Gloves | 1 | Hunter |
| Tank Chestplate | 2 | Blacksmith and Forge |
| Medium Backpack | 6 | Bard |
For the Medium Backpack, the current wiki lists 6 Linen and 6 Reptile Leather. That means 2 Hide and 6 Salt cover its Leather requirement, but the Linen must be gathered separately. Do not confuse the Drying Rack, which processes the Leather, with the Bard, who crafts this backpack.
For Ranger Gloves, keep 2 Goo, 2 Copper Bars and 2 Shroud Sacks alongside 1 Reptile Leather. Having the finished Leather solves only that one component of the recipe.
If your material is not accepted
Read the recipe's exact ingredient name. Reptile Hide belongs in the Drying Rack conversion; Reptile Leather belongs in the recipes listed above. Check that you collected the completed output rather than leaving it in the workshop.
If the finished equipment is still unavailable after you have Leather, compare the target recipe's other materials and workshop requirement. Processing additional Leather will not replace missing Linen, metal, Goo or the required crafting setup.
