Craft a Smelter at the Blacksmith, with a Forge available, using 50 Fired Bricks and 1 Crucible. The crafting step is instant. For your first Smelter, recover the Crucible during Crucible Needed For A Smelter, then return to craft the station.
The community wiki's Smelter entry confirms the current recipe. The Crucible is a component you retrieve; you are not searching for a finished Smelter to carry home.
Get the Blacksmith's Crucible quest
Complete Reclaim The Wilderness, the prerequisite listed in the community wiki's quest entry, then speak to the Blacksmith about Crucible Needed For A Smelter.
The task has two stages: retrieve the Crucible, then craft a Smelter with the Blacksmith. Finding the component does not finish the crafting stage by itself.
If the quest is missing, check that named prerequisite and speak to the Blacksmith again. Older forum discussions suggest different towers, Hunter tasks or material discoveries as triggers, but they do not agree; use the current quest requirement rather than treating every reported action as mandatory.
Recover the Crucible at Mark of Sameth
The established route leads to the Mark of Sameth mining camp, west of the Revelwood Ancient Spire. Bring a pickaxe: the Crucible is concealed behind a diggable obstruction inside the mine.
The illustrated mine walkthrough describes this approach:
- Enter the camp through its main gate.
- Use the tunnel entrance on the far right.
- Defeat the guards and turn right toward the sloping ground leading upward.
- On the upper level, find a table with a readable document.
- Look to the right of the table for a large pile of dirt.
- Dig through the obstruction and collect the Crucible behind it.
Those directions depend on entering through the main gate. If you approached from another side, identify the upper-level table and blocked passage rather than applying “right” from a different starting point.
The screenshots document the older route. Follow your current quest marker and inspect the named landmarks if a tunnel or approach differs in your world; this guide does not assign an unverified 1.0 coordinate to the pickup.
Produce the 50 Fired Bricks
Bricks are the other half of the Smelter recipe. The current Fired Brick recipe uses the Carpenter or Carpenter Assistant, with a Kiln, to turn 1 Lump of Clay and 1 Any Wood into 1 Fired Brick in 30 seconds.
For the Smelter's bricks alone, reserve 50 Lumps of Clay and 50 Any Wood. That is an ingredient total, not a claim that all bricks finish simultaneously.
If you still need a Kiln, rescue the Carpenter through Carpentry Assistance to unlock it. Its current recipe is:

The Kiln is crafted instantly at the Carpenter. If you are starting without one, the Kiln plus the Smelter's 50 bricks require 60 Lumps of Clay in total. The Kiln specifically asks for Revelwood Stone, so check the stone's name before collecting a generic stack.
Craft, place and supply the Smelter
Return to the Blacksmith with 50 Fired Bricks and the Crucible, ensure the Forge requirement is met, and craft the Smelter. Place the finished station at your base, then use the recipe matching the material you want to produce.

These are recipes listed for the Smelter, not the separate Blast Furnace. Ore and Charcoal supply production after placement; they are not substitutes for the Crucible and bricks used to build the station.
Additional Smelters can be crafted after the quest, but making another Crucible uses ingredients that the current wiki places in Kindlewastes. Do not assume the first retrieved Crucible gives an immediate, unlimited supply of early-game Smelters.
