Flame Level Upgrade Materials

Quick Answer

Organize Flame strengthening materials in Enshrouded, separate world conditions from inventory costs and use a detailed Level 9 gathering checklist.

Enshrouded Flame level upgrade materials are the requirements under Strengthen the Flame at an altar. They are separate from the Shroud Cores used to enlarge a particular base. Open your current world's next Flame tier first, record its exact item names and quantities, and check any survivor or progression conditions before gathering.

This reference includes a detailed Level 9 checklist for the Veilwater Basin progression tier. Level 9 was an Update 7 milestone; it is not presented here as a verified 1.0 maximum. The release adds Cinder's Cradle and further progression, so use the live altar menu for the exact next tier in your world rather than treating an older cap as the end of the game.

Read the requirements as separate tasks

A strengthening requirement can be an inventory cost or a world condition. A survivor count does not behave like a stack of ore, and a boss trophy requires a different task from a processed material. Separate these before planning the next expedition.

Requirement typeExample from the Level 9 checklistWhat you need to do
Survivor condition14 survivorsCheck rescued and placed survivors in the world
Gathered progression resource60 SparksVisit the relevant Flame locations
Regional material60 AquamarineGather the named material in Veilwater Basin
Processed material60 Green Vitriol DustComplete the Laboratory production chain
Boss trophy1 Hydrak'Dal HeadComplete the encounter connected to the quest route

Read the quantity beside every entry. Several materials happen to share a total at this tier, but that is not a rule that lets you infer the amount for another resource or another upgrade. Write the actual values from the current menu before splitting gathering work among several players.

Level 9 material checklist

The Veilwater Basin Level 9 requirement list contains the following entries. Check the current menu before spending the final stock, especially when using a migrated save or a world that has already progressed beyond this tier.

The head belongs to Strengthen the Flame. It is not the payment for enlarging an individual altar's build area. If you only need room for another building, do not begin this entire regional collection project under the assumption that it is the local expansion cost.

Keep the listed items reserved while you finish the remaining tasks. Gold, pearls and processed alchemical materials have other crafting uses. A nearly completed checklist can become incomplete again if those stacks are spent on equipment or a decorative project before you return to the altar.

Confirm the survivor condition first

The survivor entry is a progression check. Inspect your world's rescued survivors and the relevant quests before you begin a long material farm. Craftspeople, assistants and villagers belong to the wider survivor system, so the requirement should not be interpreted as fourteen copies of the original five craftspeople.

Use the quest journal to find remaining rescues. Bring the survivors home through the summoning system, place them in the base and provide the accommodation required by the current objective. If the altar still shows the condition as incomplete, inspect the exact counter rather than assuming a new inventory item will fix it.

Do this early because the rescue work can unlock crafting options or regional tasks you need for the material chain. It also prevents the frustrating situation in which every resource stack is ready but the upgrade remains blocked by a world condition you never checked.

In a cooperative world, coordinate the rescue task with the people collecting resources. Everyone should be working toward the same world's requirements. A character's progress elsewhere does not automatically make every survivor available in the shared destination world.

Collect Sparks from Flame locations

Sparks are gathered at Flame Shrines and Flame Sanctums throughout Embervale. Use your explored map and the relevant location markers to plan a route through places you can reach reliably. The Level 9 checklist requires sixty, so count the reserve instead of estimating from how many locations you remember visiting.

Avoid confusing Sparks with Shroud Cores. Both are associated with altar progression in broad conversation, but they serve different requirements. A large core reserve for local base upgrades does not replace the Spark stack shown by Strengthen the Flame.

When revisiting a location, inspect what is currently available. Do not plan the entire gathering schedule around an unverified instant reset or an exact refresh timer from an old guide. Combine known accessible Flame locations with new exploration until the required total is actually in hand.

Store the collected Sparks with the upgrade materials or otherwise mark them as reserved in your own plan. This is especially useful when several players are contributing and no single person has seen every deposit.

Gather Gold Ore and Aquamarine around Veilwater Basin

Gold Ore is available from Drak enemies and underwater gathering in Veilwater Basin. The Dragondream Lake area is a useful orientation for this part of the collection. Underwater mining uses the Mining Sieve obtained through the region's quest progression, so check that tool requirement before planning a dedicated dive.

Gold Ore reserved before smelting into bars

Keep the material as Gold Ore when the upgrade asks for ore. Smelting it into Gold Bars changes the item you have, even though the bars are useful for other recipes. Reserve the sixty ore needed for this checklist before processing the rest for a different project.

Aquamarine is another Basin material, found around rocks in the region, including the Dragondream Lake area. Count it independently from Gold Ore. Finding both near the same broad area can make a trip convenient, but it does not guarantee that every rock or enemy provides both materials.

For underwater work, plan the oxygen and return route before starting to gather. Leave enough margin to surface safely rather than treating the last piece of ore as more important than completing the dive. A route you can repeat safely is more useful than a theoretical maximum haul.

Produce Green Vitriol Dust at the Laboratory

Green Vitriol Dust is a processed ingredient. The listed production combines 3 Sulfur, 2 Iron Dust and 5 Water to make 5 Green Vitriol Dust at the Laboratory. For the sixty-dust target, plan the required batches and keep the inputs available at the correct production setup.

The important dependency is Iron Dust. It belongs to the Mill production chain introduced in the Veilwater Basin progression. If you have not unlocked or supplied that setup, collecting only Sulfur and Water leaves the dust recipe incomplete.

Inspect each input's exact name. Iron Ore, Iron Bars and Iron Dust are different stages or materials, and a stack of one should not be counted as another. Open the relevant current recipe when working backward through the chain so you gather the missing input rather than a metal-themed substitute.

Water also has its own supply system. Check the Laboratory's current requirements and the available water storage or nearby source instead of assuming that an empty container is sufficient. Once production completes, count the finished Green Vitriol Dust rather than the ingredients waiting to be processed.

Schedule Passionflower gathering at night

Passionflower is found at night in the Veilwater Basin woods. Its pink glow helps distinguish it during a nighttime search. Plan this part of the collection around the appropriate time of day instead of spending a long daylight route looking for a plant that is not presented in the same way then.

The checklist needs thirty. Use a deliberate search through an area you can navigate and count each completed pickup. Do not commit to a promised fixed number of plants per route or assume that every glowing object is the correct species.

While waiting for the next suitable gathering period, continue another checklist task. Processing materials, checking survivor progress and preparing dive equipment are useful work that does not depend on finding the plant immediately. This keeps the upgrade moving without requiring an unsupported farming shortcut.

Reserve the collected flowers until the strengthening is complete. They are part of the upgrade cost, so judge any competing recipe against the amount still needed by the checklist.

Keep Pearls separate from Mother of Pearl

Pearls can be collected from underwater clams or appear as Drak drops. Starfish Shores is a useful broad gathering area for clam searching. The Drak route can supplement your total, but an individual enemy drop should not be treated as guaranteed.

Pearl material distinct from Mother of Pearl

Read the item name closely. Mother of Pearl is not the Pearl entry required by this checklist. A similar name or marine appearance does not satisfy the altar requirement, so inspect the stack before counting it toward thirty.

When diving for clams, use a route that lets you find the target, collect and return with oxygen remaining. Do not keep extending a dive solely because the total is nearly complete. The final handful can be gathered on another pass after you restore a safe starting state.

Pearls can be a slow part of the collection. Keep the ones already obtained reserved, then combine a known clam search with other Basin tasks rather than repeatedly visiting a depleted spot without checking its current availability.

Obtain the head and complete the strengthening

Hydrak'Dal supplies the required head. The Fisher's Vengeance quest chain leads toward the relevant temple and encounter in Veilwater Basin. Follow that progression rather than assuming that collecting the other materials alone unlocks or completes the boss task.

Before confirming the upgrade, inspect the whole list again. Count the reserved inventory items, confirm the survivor condition and make sure the trophy is the exact head requested. Then choose Strengthen the Flame at the altar and verify the resulting world Flame state.

After the payment succeeds, read the new tier and next requirements. That confirms the intended progression and prevents you from continuing to farm an already completed checklist. For later 1.0 tiers, repeat the same method with the live menu's actual values rather than extending the Level 9 quantities by guesswork.
