Overview
Read the creator-supported scope and the parts that remain untested.
EML is an unofficial Lua-based loader and framework maintained by Brabb3l. Its v0.2.0 release explicitly adds Enshrouded 1.0 compatibility. That statement belongs to the loader: each dependent mod still needs its own compatibility check. No game session or binary execution was performed for this guide.
Choose the documented installation method
The creator usage guide recommends the Proxy DLL method for client and server installations. Put dbghelp.dll in the relevant installation root and create a mods directory beside it. Follow the actual mod’s folder instructions inside that directory. Linux, Wine and Proton need the extra DLL-override instructions provided by the author.
The emm.exe command-line method is a separate option. Its default invocation validates mods; applying patch or export capabilities requires the corresponding flags. Do not read a validation-only run as evidence that a gameplay change was applied.
Check the framework’s scope
The documentation introduction says the current framework supports asset modifications before the game starts. Runtime modifications are described as planned. Keep that distinction when evaluating a mod’s promises.
The files below are author-hosted release attachments whose links and sizes were visible on the release page. Before using a later release, read its own notes. Preserve a recoverable save and installation configuration, then verify the individual dependent mod rather than assuming the entire collection works because the loader starts.
Evidence limit
Creator README, documentation, usage guide and v0.2.0 release were read on 2026-10-17. The release explicitly adds Enshrouded 1.0 compatibility. This is an author claim for the loader, not a test of all dependent mods. No binaries were downloaded or executed.
Requirements
Use the relevant loader and check each project independently.
| Requirement | Version | Reason | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Installed Enshrouded game or server | Unverified | The proxy file is placed in the relevant installation root. | RequiredConfirmed |
| Linux / Wine / Proton configuration | Unverified | The creator documents a native, builtin DLL override for this environment. | Additional platform setupConfirmed |
Installation
These steps summarize the creator documentation; no game execution is claimed.
Preserve a working copy
Keep a recoverable save and installation configuration before changing a working setup.
Partially verifiedChoose the creator release
Use the v0.2.0 author release or a later release whose current compatibility notes you have checked. The release page lists dbghelp.dll, dinput8.dll and emm.exe separately.
ConfirmedUse the recommended proxy method
Place dbghelp.dll in the Enshrouded installation root, create a mods directory beside it, and place the intended mod folders inside. Avoid retaining an older copy of the same proxy file.
ConfirmedApply the relevant platform instructions
Linux/Wine/Proton installations need the creator’s DLL override. Do not copy a Windows-only launch procedure without this step.
ConfirmedCheck the generated configuration
The proxy creates eml.json on first launch. That shows loader setup progressed; it does not establish that each mod works correctly.

The following attachment URLs and displayed sizes were read directly from the v0.2.0 creator release. They link to the author’s GitHub release, not a site-hosted copy. No download count or file execution is claimed.
- Added compatibility for Enshrouded 1.0
- Optimized memory usage
- Fixed a bunch of stuff
Conflicts and limitations
Resolve the documented limits before relying on a modded world.
| Component | Interaction | Resolution | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Previous proxy installation | The usage guide warns against retaining the older proxy file in the same game directory. | Replace the old proxy deliberately according to the current author instructions; do not layer multiple assumed installations. | Confirmed |
| Runtime modification assumptions | The current introduction says EML supports asset modifications before the game starts. | Treat runtime modification support as planned rather than available. | Confirmed |
| Dependent mod compatibility | A loader release with 1.0 support does not confirm every dependent mod. Miscellaneous Tweaks is still being tested and updated by its author. | Read the dependent mod’s own current support notice and keep the main save recoverable. | Confirmed |
Practical checks
Keep loader support separate from dependent-mod compatibility.
Does the proxy method support servers?
The creator usage guide explicitly says the recommended Proxy DLL method works for both client and server installations. Platform-specific setup still applies.
